Account deletion
Last updated 2026-08-02
You can delete your DAWINI account yourself, from inside the app, at any time. This page explains exactly what happens when you do, what is permanently erased, what we are legally required to keep, and how to request deletion if you can no longer sign in. DAWINI is operated by OMT — Optimus Made Technology; the app is published on Google Play as DAWINI (app.dawini.mobile).
Deleting your account in the app
Patients: open Profile, then Delete account under the danger zone. Choose a reason if you'd like to, type DELETE to confirm, and submit.
Doctors: open Profile, then Delete account under the danger zone. The same confirmation applies. If you have upcoming consultations or a payment still being processed, complete or cancel those first — the app will tell you which ones.
What happens immediately
Your account is suspended, and every session and device is signed out at once. Nothing is erased yet, and no data is changed — this step is entirely reversible.
The 30-day grace period
Deletion becomes final 30 days after you request it. During those 30 days you can cancel simply by signing back in with your usual credentials: your account is reactivated exactly as it was, with nothing lost. After the 30 days, an automated process performs the permanent erasure described below, and it cannot be undone.
What is permanently erased
After the grace period, we permanently erase the personal data that identifies you:
- Your name, phone number, email address and date of birth
- Your password and any linked Google or phone sign-in identity
- Your profile photo and preferences
- Your notification tokens, so no device can receive DAWINI notifications for you again
- The personal details of any family members you manage on your account
What we are required to keep, and why
Some records cannot be deleted on request, because Algerian healthcare and accounting law requires us to keep them. After the grace period these records no longer identify you inside the app — they reference an anonymised account identifier:
- Prescriptions issued to you by a doctor, and signed consultation records — these are part of a medical record, and the doctor who signed them is legally responsible for their retention.
- Billing and payment records, including refunds — required for accounting and tax obligations.
- For doctors: verification and licensing documents behind consultations you delivered, and earnings statements.
- Audit log entries recording that an action took place — these record what happened, not who you are.
These are kept for the period Algerian law requires and are then deleted. We do not use them for any other purpose, and they are never used to re-identify you or to market to you.
Requesting deletion without the app
If you can no longer sign in, or you have already uninstalled DAWINI, email privacy@dawini.pro from the email address on your account, or from any address if your account has no email, with the subject "Account deletion request". Include the phone number you used to register so we can locate the account. We will verify that the request comes from the account owner before acting — we will never delete an account on an unverified request, because that would itself be a way to attack someone. Once verified, the same 30-day process applies, and we confirm in writing when the erasure is complete. We answer within 30 days.
